Can never go wrong with brownies

From the Chicago apartment: brownies with peanut butter, Heath crunch and Andes candies. Kind of awkward, but it actually was really really delicious.

Hey, so usually I don't go in and "edit" kelley's posts but we (ok so I actually don't remember who exactly baked these, 80% sure it was me) baked similar brownies a year ago sans crazy candy additions. Blast from the past from when we used to live together.

Tapas

I love to try food (obviously, I have a food blog) but more so just little bites of a wide variety of food. Tapas are then perfect for me. Not only is it mini portions, but there's tons of cured pork like items (salami, jamon serrano, chorizo) which are my absolute favorite.

And of course what would a Spanish meal be without some lovely sangria??

Here is our spread. It didn't quite satisfy us so we ordered some extra servings. It wasn't the best food I have ever had, but still tasty.

For dessert I had a chocolate cake which was good but nothing too special. It was supposed to be a Bacardi cake (I may have a week spot for rum...) but there was no trace of it.

Indian Tradition

Every time I come home for a break or weekend, we go out to eat Indian food for dinner. It is always the first night, I just can;t wait. Of course, this Thanksgiving break was no different.

We always order Chicken Tikka Masala which is chicken in a mid tomato sause and yellow lentils which is lentils in some yellow sauce (I know descriptive but I actually don't know what it is but its some tasty mystery sauce). The other item is usually something new. Last time I ordered a curry yogurt drink. I'm sorry but savory yogurt beverages are no my thing, but the waiter was nice and then gave me a mango one. Just proving that good comes out of trying new things. Anyways this time we tried vegetable dumplings in yogurt sauce. Delicious! I (and all of you) must try this again.

I also came home craving a glass of wonderful red wine but unfortunately I left my ID at home and had to drink water. My dad of course enjoyed my wine...

Mexican

Tonight I couldn't get a hold of my parents to see what time they were coming home for dinner. After a couple hours Andrea and I were too hungry so we just left and went to a local mexican restaurant.

First of course were the drinks, I got a sangrita which is a combo of sangria and margarita and Andreas ordered the pomegranate version.

In the end my mom came and joined us and I shared with her an order of chicken tacos. THis is my kind of tacos; beans, chicken, pico de gallo, and guacamole. All of these ingredients are needed for the perfect taco.

Christmas in a Sandwich

If it was up to me, we would eat only ham on thanksgiving. I know, I know I just upset the great Turkey gods, but I'm just not a fan. The only reason I make it every year is for the tradition and I feel my cousins may rise up against me if I make a turkey free spread. Anyways though this sandwich reminded me of Thanksgiving/ Christmas. It was ham with brie and raspberry jam (even better would've been my homemade cranberry sauce bu that'll have to wait a couple weeks). Did you notice the upgrade to real bread instead of english muffins or packaged sliced bread? I'm a grown up lady now.

Fruit Pizza

Last Friday Sean and I decided to have another italian night. Luckily he is as in love with food as I am so we decided to experiment and make a sweet and savory pizza. The end result was amazing. Now I'm not just saying it, Juan who although expecting a hefty "man" pizza said ours turned out pretty good. It was pizza covered with shredded mozzerella then layered with green apples and asian pears (a new fruit for me). After that, we sprinkled on some strong parmesean cheese, walnuts, rosemary, and oregano. The herbs really rounded out the flavor and made everything jive. For desert, Sean made eggnog panna cotta and as if things couldn't get any better, we watched the Bill Cunningham documentary. A perfect staying in night.

Halloween Treat

This halloween I was a cowgirl and a nerd. Now the night I decided to "debut" the nerd outfit, we went to a haunted asylum which took a little longer than expected but totally worth it. Not only did I scream and laugh but I have never been so close to my friends and a few strangers... (fear apparently makes you reach out and cling for dear life to the nearest person to you). Well the point is that we never went out downtown after that, so I decided to use the costume for the industrial design department's costume contest. Somehow I won an honorable mention (half of us seemed to have done so but I'll still take it) with a prize of a candy apple. This fall was the first time I had a caramel apple and this was my first candy covered caramel apple. Obviously it was delicious and even better what I thought were M&Ms were actually Reese's Pieces! It was a wonderful Halloween night treat.

Bellow is my nerd costume. I stole the pic from Liz's facebook, hope she doesn't mind
